How do our bird photo tours work?

Are you one of those bird photographers that obtain more pleasure from obtaining an image in a more natural way using fieldcraft.rather that paying to access a permanent hide for specific species?  These tours are designed to be able to get as close as possible to a plethora of wild birds, using a variety of techniques with a variety of equipment provided subject to availability:-

  • Car
  • Walking
  • Throw over hides  (on a first come first served basis)
  • Camo nets
  • Guilie suit
  • Revolving chairs

Equipment will be rotated to allow each participant to utilise different equipment. We will also supply knee and elbow pads for comfortable low-angle photography.

Strategy

  • Although we are not having a go at photographers who do, we derive more please from working at an image the hard way, using fieldcraft and strategic positioning using our experience and knowledge of where bids will be, and making use of the best light.

  • For that reason we prefer shooting during morning and evening hours to achieve that gold sweet-spot to our images while we use the harsh-light hours during midday and early afternoon to move between locations and have lunch

  • We are keeping the number of participating photographers to just 3, that way, not only can each photographer make use of each car window, but also minimises photographers getting into each others way on foot.

There is a big discount saving available by coming as a pair or group (max 3) as opposed to coming as a single participant.

SPAIN

Every year, millions of West European migrants go to and pass through Morocco, mainly from late July to early November in the autumn, and from March to May in the spring. Most, especially passerines, migrate by night or over-fly too high to be seen during the day, but often stop at wetlands to refuel, and provide unforgettable sights and great possibilities for photography in areas we know they occur.

It is one of the premier nature photography locations in the world, and a must-see for anyone who enjoys experiencing wildlife at close range, warm weather, great light and al fresco dining under the stars.

Mountains shelter a rich avifauna in the Middle Atlas (Crested Coot, Levaillant's Woodpecker, etc.)  in the High Atlas (Atlas Shore Lark, Alpine Accentor, Rock Sparrow, & Crimson-winged Finch).  Many desert-living species, including larks, wheatears and sandgrouses, are widespread in desert Morocco; others are more restricted in range, and birding hotspots include the temporary lakes

Participants will witness some amazing scenery and photograph a large variety of morocco most sought-after species. These birds of the open ocean allow human approach within a few yards during courtship and breeding.

Our comprehensive schedule will be arranged for early morning and late afternoon photography—the best times for observing and photographing animals. Whenever possible between morning and afternoon shooting sessions we will engage on lunch / travelling to different locations / regions.

We have timed the trip to coincide with one of Nature's busiest seasons in Morocco. Spring is the time when warm weather, blue skies and occasional showers combine to stimulate elaborate bird courtship displays in the the desert landscape amidst the greenery and flowers. It is the perfect season to capture a multitude of memorable images and the perfect season to relax and enjoy the taking great photographs in a great setting!

Join us for this exceptional opportunity to photograph all of the extraordinary birdlife of Morocco!
